Finding Inspiration Together
When Kaniska reached out about commissioning a pet portrait as a birthday gift for a dear friend who adores her two cats, Baby Loaf and Nimki, my heart melted a little. There's something so beautiful about celebrating our furry family members through art, and knowing this would be my very first pet portrait made it even more special.
Our Creative Journey
Since this was uncharted territory for me, I poured extra love into gathering references and exploring different approaches. Kaniska and I spent time dreaming up the perfect setting - ultimately choosing a magical floral backdrop that would let Baby Loaf and Nimki's personalities shine through.
The Final Piece
Watching Baby Loaf and Nimki come alive on paper, surrounded by vibrant autumn blooms, felt like capturing pure joy. When the birthday surprise was revealed, seeing the delight it brought made my artist's heart sing. The fact that even the cats seemed to approve of their portrait was the sweetest validation!
Created With Care
I used my treasured cold-pressed Arches 300GSM paper and carefully selected Schmincke, Holbein, and Daniel Smith pigments to create that magical floral wonderland these sweet cats deserved.
Time Taken
3 weeks of devoted attention, from choosing the perfect references to adding the final whisker detail and professional framing.
