I came across a photograph of a lone poppy against a black background. The contrast stopped me. Red against stark darkness, and I knew immediately I had to try it.
I chose Chinese Ink over black watercolour deliberately. There is a depth and velvety warmth to it that ordinary black cannot hold. It does not just sit on the paper. It pulls at something.
On the small piece of paper, it worked. As the ink met the almost-dry red petals, the colours moved toward each other… the red hugging the black, the black holding the red. I felt proud of what appeared.
Then I tried it larger, thinking it deserved to be an original. I failed. Not once but four times.
That is why Bleeding Heart exists as a limited edition archival print. So it can touch more than one wall, more than one heart.
For a space that can hold both softness and darkness at once.
One of only 25. Once they're gone, they're gone.
Limited to 25 so it remains rare, considered, and genuinely collectible.
