I was sailing from Nuweiba to Jordan when I stepped out onto the ship deck. The wind was strong enough that carrying my camera felt like a small argument. I almost didn't bring it.
On one side, the Red Sea, dark blue, vast, indifferent to the ship moving through it. I turned to the other side and stopped.
Blue sky over mountains. Mountains bleeding into golden desert. Desert dissolving into the sea. Clouds moving across the sun like they had somewhere to be. All of it layered, all of it happening at once, and none of it asking to be looked at.
I named it The Orange Terrace because standing there felt like looking down at an ancient city from somewhere outside of time. Not a landscape exactly, more like a world you've stumbled into from another one.
Even writing this now, I'm not entirely back.
This photograph exists in an edition of 15. Not because editions are expected, but because some moments deserve to live in only a few rooms.
